According to the official BYD Ocean Network, all BYD Dolphin models will be launched with OTA upgrades starting today. Officials stated that this upgrade includes the 2021 Dolphin models.
There is not much official pre-heating for this OTA push, and only two main functions are mentioned:
- Intelligent power on and off: No need to press the “start/stop” button when getting on or off the vehicle, making travelling more convenient.
- Continuous intelligent voice interaction: Users only need to wake up the voice assistant “Xiao Di” once to have continuous conversations within 20 seconds.
In addition, a netizen in BYD’s official car owner community asked whether the Song PLUS model will have OTA upgrades. The official response was that “upgrades of each model are under development, and Song PLUS car series upgrades are also being arranged.”
According to the September sales data of major new energy vehicle models released by BYD earlier this month, BYD’s Dolphin model sold 32,927 units that month and the total for the year was 260,470 units. On September 22 this year, BYD’s 500,000th Dolphin model officially rolled off the production line, and an exclusive “commemorative edition” model was also launched.
The 2023 Dolphin will be launched on December 28, 2022, priced from RMB 116,800-136,800. The car is built on the e-platform 3.0 and is equipped with a blade battery and the world’s first eight-in-one electric powertrain. It uses battery-pack refrigerant direct cooling and direct heating technology and is equipped with a wide temperature range and high-efficiency heat pump system.
Compared with the 2021 model, the 2023 Dolphin model cancels the vitality version, the electric motor and battery configuration remain unchanged and provide two pure electric driving ranges of 401 kilometres and 420 kilometres.
