Last September it was reported that Wang Chuanfu proposed BYD’s 2023 annual sales target of 4 million units, and the report said that Wang Chuanfu said, “The current trend is that China’s new energy market could reach 9-10 million units in 2023, and BYD is ready to hit 4 million units of sales.”
BYD released an announcement that its annual sales in 2022 totaled 1,668,500 units, up 152.46 percent year-on-year, including cumulative sales of 1,863,500 new energy vehicles, up 208.64 percent year-on-year, surpassing Tesla’s 1.31 million units and becoming the world’s number one new energy vehicle company. It is worth noting that BYD’s new energy vehicle sales took 13 years from the first to 1 million units, 1 year from 1 million to 2 million units, and only half a year from 2 million to 3 million units.
