Broadcom sued by Panasonic in the U.S. over computer technology patents

Japanese electronics maker Panasonic has filed a lawsuit in U.S. federal court in Texas accusing chipmaker Broadcom of infringing claims in several of its computer technology patents.

According to Reuters, Panasonic said in court that Broadcom refused to discuss its offer to license its patent portfolio, and claimed that Broadcom’s microprocessors, integrated circuits and components for wireless networks infringed 10 of its patents. In addition, Panasonic noted that Broadcom knowingly infringed those patents and cited some of them in its patent applications.

Panasonic is currently seeking a court award of damages against Broadcom and a court order permanently preventing Broadcom from infringing its patent rights.

Broadcom and Panasonic did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
