Both from Samsung Display, iPhone 14 Pro peaks brighter than the Galaxy S22 Ultra

Samsung Display, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, is responsible for supplying OLED panels to cell phone manufacturers including Apple. Although Apple’s supply chain also includes domestic manufacturers such as BOE and LG, Apple has placed orders with its biggest competitor, Samsung, due to high requirements for product yields and workmanship.

Apple has officially launched the iPhone 14 Pro series at its “Ultra Preview” fall event early this morning. But it’s worth noting that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models have significantly brighter screens than all current Android devices, even Samsung’s own flagship Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is arguably the best phone in the Android camp today, with a peak brightness of 1750 nits compared to 2000 nits for the iPhone 14 Pro series. Easily making it the brightest display on the market.

It’s worth noting that this 250-nit difference isn’t an exponential increase, and most users won’t be able to tell the difference in the first place. But it’s still impressive to see Apple introduce the brightest display on the market.

It’s also worth noting that while Samsung Display is part of the Samsung Group, it’s also a standalone company, which is a good business decision considering a large number of iPhones Apple is known for shipping. The iPhone 14 Pro display will meet Apple’s requirements, and it ultimately benefits Samsung as well.
