BOE OLED panels have been under evaluation by Apple for some time. Now, the test is over and the Chinese panel manufacturer got the certification to supply OLED panels for the iPhone 14. This notification came to the company last week and is readying to begin production.
Mass production of this panel will kick off within the month of July. The shipment of this panel will come months after its development in September. This shows that the Apple iPhone 14 series will launch a bit earlier than the last two iPhone series.
There are a few things to note regarding the BOE OLED panels to be in use on the coming iPhones. There are three major panel suppliers for the iPhone 14 series. First on the list is Samsung, and they’d supply a total of 60 million panels. Next is LG, which will hold the second-highest supplies, amounting to 25 million panels. BOE is the last on the list with the lowest supplies of over 5 million OLED panels.
The other two suppliers will cater for the screens of all other devices with the iPhone 14 series. But, the panels from BOE will measure 6.1-inches m, which means that only the iPhone 14 will use these panels. The panels won’t be as beefed up as other panels from the likes of Samsung, they’d be LTPS panels.
Leaks have it that, there won’t be an iPhone 14 Mini, so the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro will hold the smallest screen sizes. The iPhone 14 Pro Max and 14 Max will use larger 6.7-inch screens. BEO OLED panels for the iPhone 14 will retain the notch, as would the 14 Max. Reports also have it that Apple will focus more on the Pros in the iPhone 14 series. This might be because only the Pro models will come with a new processor, the A16 Bionic.
