Blackmagic Design launched in September this year to the Apple iPhone Blackmagic Camera recording software, the integration of the company’s digital film camera control and image processing methods, can achieve a “Hollywood” level of film! quality. Now, Blackmagic Camera has released version 1.1 of its software update, bringing even more features to Apple iPhone 14/15 phones.
Blackmagic Camera version 1.1 update is as follows:
Blackmagic Camera version 1.1 software update for the iPhone 14 and newer models to add support for recording at 23.98, 29.97 and 59.94fps frame rates, the upgrade can be captured to match a wider range of project frame rate material.
Also added is support for external timecode synchronization using Tentacle Sync E, which allows multiple iPhone cameras to record down to the frame, making it easier to edit multi-camera footage during post-production. The update also adds support for lens control on the Tilta Nucleus Nano and Nucleus M, allowing wireless control of zoom and focus when the camera is deployed in an out-of-reach location.
With this upgrade, you can lock the camera screen orientation in Blackmagic Camera settings to maintain portrait or landscape aspect ratios regardless of camera movement. This is especially useful when you’re recording directly to an external USB-C storage drive on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max and the camera is secured to a boom or jib.
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max also support recording the Apple Log format, which helps capture the full dynamic range of a scene, so DaVinci Resolve’s toned images can take advantage of that detail to create rich, vibrant colours, deep darks, and crisp highlights.
