Best Buy CEO warns that Apple iPhone 14 Pro availability at third-party retailers is dwindling

The supply of iPhone 14 Pro continues to wane as the holiday shopping season abroad gets into full swing. Now, Apple’s partner Best Buy is warning that users are currently experiencing strong demand for Apple’s flagship iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max and that it has not been able to keep up with that demand in terms of supply.

In fact, Apple itself has confirmed that the iPhone 14 Pro will be in short supply this holiday shopping season. Apple has also released its annual guide to “the latest dates for ordering holiday gifts,” which has already passed for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Best Buy CEO Corey Barry acknowledged this demand pressure in a call with the media this week, according to Reuters. He said, “The models we’re seeing a little bit of (inventory) pressure on are those higher-end iPhone devices.”

The shortage of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is a factor Best Buy is being forced to consider in its earnings guidance for this year’s holiday shopping quarter. The company will rely on “increased deals and discounts” to attract more shoppers to its stores.

Meanwhile, Reuters quoted analyst Daniel Ives as saying he estimates Apple will sell about 8 million iPhones 14 this year over the Black Friday weekend, which would mean about 2 million fewer units compared to the same quarter last year.
