The latest AGESA 1.0.0.6 update cuts boot time in half from 56 seconds to 30 seconds, according to the latest tweet posted by netizen HXL.
The main specifications of this test platform are as follows:
- Processor: AMD R9 7950X3D
- Motherboard: Asus ROG X670E HERO
- Memory: 2 x 32GB of SK Hynix JEDEC DDR5 5600MT/s
With the 0805 BIOS version (AGESA 1003), the boot time is about 56 seconds, while after upgrading to the 1004 BIOS version (AGESA 1006), the boot time is about 30 seconds.
The ASUS 1004 BIOS update log reads as follows:
- Update AGESA version to ComboAM5PI 1.0.0.6
- TPM 2.0 Security Update
ASUS has also updated the TPM 2.0 module, but ASUS did not specify the exact content of the update.
AGESA is the AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture, a BIOS interface definition that modularizes internal code to help manufacturers quickly complete BIOS compilation. These microcodes work at the very bottom of the computer to help boot up the CPU, memory, and graphics card.
