This Thursday, ASRock announced the X670E motherboard lineup for AMD’s Riptide 7000 series AM5 desktop processors. The debut lineup includes five models, X670E Taichi/Taichi Carrara, Steel Legend, Pro RS, and PG Lighting.

As the highest positioned model in AMD 600 series chipset, X670E provides 28 PCIe 5.0 lanes to deliver an “Extreme” performance experience for primary and secondary PCIe and M.2 storage slots.
The five X670E motherboards debuted by ASRock all feature ATX full-size boards. The first is the flagship X670E Taichi / Taichi Carrara, which offers two PCIe 5.0 x16 and four M.2 SSD slots (with fan + heatsink).
In addition, the X670E Taichi supports USB4, integrated 2.5 GbE Ethernet + Killer Wi-Fi 6E wireless adapter, and metal reinforced DDR5 memory slots.
As previously leaked, the X670E Taichi Carrara comes with a unique marble-shaped heatsink as a special model for ASRock’s 20th anniversary.
Next are the X670E Steel Legend and X670 Pro RS, both motherboards offer only one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot.
The former replaces the other PCIe 5.0 x16 with a PCIe 3.0 x16 and a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot, while the latter is replaced with two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots.
Both motherboards also feature metal-reinforced DDR5 memory slots, four M.2 SSD slots, and a Dragon 2.5 GbE Ethernet + AMD RZ616 Wi-Fi 6E wireless adapter.
Last but not least is the relatively affordable X670E PG Lightning motherboard, which doesn’t have the same luxurious thermal armor, but in return has a wealth of PCIe expansion options.
In addition to the one retained PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, it has two PCIe 4.0 x16 and one PCIe 4.0 x1 slot, complemented by four M.2 SSDs and Dragon 2.5 GbE Ethernet.
Unfortunately, ASRock has not yet disclosed the exact pricing and launch date of the above five motherboards. But judging from the positioning of the X670E chipset, they are certainly not too cheap.
