Steve Jobs signed a cheque auctioned for $100,000; a rare 4GB unopened first-generation iPhone auctioned for $ 190,000, and now the unopened first-generation iPod once again broke the record, the transaction price of $ 29,000 (Currently about RMB 209,000).

However, the sale of an unopened first-generation iPod was not a traditional private sale or auction but came from Rally, a crowdfunding collectibles platform.
Rally opened up ownership of the original iPod in 2021 for a total of $25,000 for 5,000 shares at $5 each.
This week, a buyer made an offer of $29,000, a 16% increase over the price over the past year and a half.
Those shareholders were asked to vote on whether to accept the deal, and 61.98 percent voted in favour of the offer, breaking the world record for sales of a first-generation iPod.
The original iPod was released in 2001 with a list price of $399. Excluding inflation, the $29,000 record represents an increase in value of approximately 73 times.
