Apple’s Sherlock behaviour is accused of the death of third-party applications

The “Wall Street Journal” published the latest article, which believes that the olive branch thrown by Apple is the “kiss of death”. Reports say potential and former partners have accused Apple of copying their ideas, while Apple has argued it played by the rules.

The “New York Times” disclosed Apple’s Sherlock behaviour in 2019. Apple will poach employees and technology from smaller potential competitors, integrate the ideas of third-party developers, and make third-party applications “nowhere to go”. Walk”.

The term refers to about two decades ago when Apple released a software product called “Sherlock” to help users find files and conduct Internet searches on their Mac computers.

After other companies created more feature-rich Watson apps, Apple updated the Sherlock app with many of the same features.

TechCrunch, a foreign technology media, previously took stock of Apple’s “Sherlock” applications at WWDC in 2022, and the attached list is as follows:

  • Camo: Allowing users to use the iPhone as a webcam, Apple then introduced the continuity feature.
  • Apps like Klarna, Clearpay: Apple launches Apple Pay Later service
  • Remove. bg: Apple Introduces Visual Lookup Feature
  • Apps like MyTherapy, Pillbox, etc.: Apple Sherlocked medication logging/reminders.
  • Apps like Figma’s FigJam: Apple Sherlocks Freefrom collaboration app
  • Oura, Whoop, and more: Apple adds sleep tracking to watchOS
