Apple is rolling out a new policy for iPad mini 6 that allows customers to replace the battery without replacing the device.
Previously, if an iPad customer wanted a replacement battery, Apple Retail Stores, Apple Authorized Service Providers and Repair Centers would offer those customers a replacement device instead of simply replacing the battery in the original iPad. From now on, for Apple Authorised Repair Centres, iPad mini 6 customers who qualify will be able to replace just the battery in it, rather than having to replace the entire device.
Apple’s new policy only applies to the iPad mini 6, but other iPads may follow in the coming weeks and months. Depending on individual circumstances, the new policy may work against some customers. Previously, customers would get a brand new replacement device, so any dents, cracks, or wear and tear would be taken care of.
Apple’s new policy means that iPad mini 6 users will only receive a replacement battery and will not have any other minor defects or damage to the device repaired. As of now, this new policy is only available at global repair centers, not at Apple Retail Stores or authorized service providers.
