Apple’s new MacBook Pro now in regulatory database: Wi-Fi 6E support

Apple submitted an unreleased version of its MacBook Pro, model number A2779, to its Canadian regulatory database on January 11, and it is expected to be released soon.

A query found that based on the wireless frequency range mentioned in the document, it appears that the new MacBook Pro will support Wi-Fi 6E, which extends Wi-Fi to the 6GHz band for more bandwidth, faster speeds and lower latency. The current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros support standard Wi-Fi 6, which is limited to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

Wade Penner, the tipster, also said that the notebook will come with an Apple M2 Pro or M2 Max chip that supports the WiFi 6E / 6GHz bands.

In addition, according to tipster Jon Prosser, Apple will release its first product for 2023 via a press release on its website on Tuesday, January 17, between this afternoon and tomorrow morning Beijing time. MacRumors also confirmed that the product will be released this week.

The new products to be released include the MacBook Pro and Mac mini. The updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro are expected to feature the same design as the 2021 MacBook Pro, with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, and higher performance. The updated Mac mini is also expected to feature the new M2 chip, with rumors suggesting it will have the same design as the current model.

MacRumors also said that Apple will hold a briefing with members of the press and media on the new devices later this week and that reviews of the new products will be unblocked next week.
