At the just past autumn new product launch conference, Apple announced that it would not use leather in any new products in the future, including watch straps, protective cases, MagSafe card holders and other accessories. On checking Appleās official website it is found that the company has quietly removed leather protective cases and other accessories from the listing.

In terms of iPhone accessories, Apple has launched MagSafe silicone protective cases, fine woven twill protective cases, and transparent protective cases for the iPhone15/15 Pro series. Not only does it not provide leather protective cases, it will also remove leather protective cases suitable for older iPhones.

The same is true for Apple Watch straps. Apple’s new straps are made of silicone, fine twill, nylon, fluororubber and other materials, while no new leather straps have been launched. Most of Apple’s new watch bands contain recycled content, and these products are attached with “leaf” labels to symbolize environmental protection.
Take fine-woven twill material as an example. Apple officials say the material is made of durable ultra-fine twill fiber and has a soft, suede-like feel. The material is also designed with the planet in mind, with 68% post-consumer recycled content and significantly lower carbon emissions than leather.
Apple announced today that it will further promote the decarbonization of its global supply chain. By 2030, more than 300 suppliers will make Apple products using 100% clean energy. The company said that more than 50 new suppliers from the United States, Europe and Asia have announced the implementation of the above commitments, promoting the development of Apple’s supplier clean energy projects.
