Apple officially updated the support documents for the new Mac Studio and Mac Pro, detailing the two Mac external monitors. Mac devices equipped with M2 Ultra can connect up to eight external 60Hz 4K displays.
The new Mac Studio has 1 HDMI 2.1 port and the new Mac Pro has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports. By expanding these ports, users can connect an 8K display at 60Hz or a 4K display at 240Hz; the M2 Ultra chip also supports up to 6 external Pro Display XDRs.
The previous Mac Studio supported up to 5 external displays when configured with the M1 Ultra chip, and Apple’s M1 Mac devices released in 2020 can only connect to 1 external display, so the new model supports up to 8, which is a considerable improvement.
