Apple’s M3 chip is delayed and MacBook and iPad will not come out this year

The latest news is that Apple originally planned to launch the new MacBook and iPad with the M3 chip this year, but due to TSMC’s 3nm process capacity shortage, the delivery of the M3 chip has been delayed until next year, which is disappointing news for Apple users who are looking forward to upgrading their devices.

The M3 chip is Apple’s own next-generation processor, which will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process and is expected to have significantly improved performance and power consumption over the current M2 chip. M3 chips will first be used in the MacBook and iPad to bring users a smoother experience and longer battery life. It is reported that Apple originally planned to release several devices with M3 chips this year, including the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, the newly designed MacBook Air in two sizes, and the iPad Pro with OLED screen next year.

However, TSMC has encountered some technical difficulties in the 3nm process, resulting in substandard yields and unable to meet Apple’s demand. According to Revegnus, a Twitter tipster, Apple has decided to postpone the launch of the M3 chip until next year, which means there won’t be any Mac or iPad with the M3 chip this year.

Of course, this does not mean that Apple has no new products to push this year. Apple will also release the iPhone 15 series with the A17 bionic chip this year. The A17 bionic chip is also manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process, but since the iPhone is Apple’s most important product line, with sales far exceeding those of the Mac and iPad, Apple may prioritize the supply of the A17 bionic chip at the expense of the M3 chip’s progress.

This news is recommended to be treated with caution, after all, it is only a rumor and has not been officially confirmed. The company will continue to pay attention to this news and bring the latest reports in a timely manner.
