Robotics engineering student Ken Pillonel previously converted the Apple iPhone into a USB-C interface, which sparked a lot of buzz on the Internet. After that, this old man changed the Lightning connector of Apple AirPods wireless headphones to USB-C, and I believe we all have an impression of his work.
Recently, Ken Pillonel came back to work, turning a pair of AirPods headphones directly into USB-C wired headphones, bypassing the need for a charging case.
Repair site iFixit gave all versions of Apple AirPods and AirPods Pro a repairability score of zero out of 10, making it nearly impossible to access the internal components without damaging the devices, and thus arguably impossible to repair, especially since the headphone batteries will age over time.
Changing AirPods to USB-C wired headphones firstly eliminates the various battery-related issues and secondly follows the Apple iPhone trend. According to previous multiple sources, Apple iPhone 15 / Pro series will be replaced with a USB-C interface.
