Apple released iOS 17 at the same time and began to improve the App Store, to provide more selected recommendations and follow-up “Behind the App” series.
The official version of iOS 17 is now live, and along with it comes a brand new App Store, which Apple says is part of a plan to further help showcase and recommend apps.
The new features of the revamped App Store will initially focus on the Today tab, which Apple says improves the way it shows users relevant apps. In addition to linking directly to apps, the Today tab will also display articles on apps or topics written by Apple’s App Store editors.
These articles and recommendations are now divided into separate sections designed to make it easier for users to learn about a topic. In addition to text content, Apple says there will be more video guides for apps.
The Today tab in iOS 17 will also add a new section later this year that highlights activities and games in apps, designed to draw users’ attention to apps that are useful but for some reason lesser known.
In addition, a new series called “Behind the App,” similar to the current App Stories, will be added, detailing the app development process, with a particular focus on apps that Apple deems innovative on the App Store.
