Although the Apple iOS 17.1.1 system released last week fixed the issue of wireless charging of iPhone 15 in BMW cars, for General Motors users, this issue has not been solved. Some GM users have reported on Reddit and other online forums that they are unable to charge their iPhone 15 using wireless charging pads in their cars after upgrading to iOS 17.1.
It is noticed that after receiving numerous complaints, Apple finally admitted to a bug last month that affected iPhone 15 users’ wireless charging in some BMW cars. The bug would also temporarily disable the iPhone 15’s NFC functions, such as Apple Pay. , Apple fixed the BMW wireless charging problem in the iOS 17.1.1 system launched last week.
However, at the same time, General Motors users said that after upgrading to iOS 17.1, they could no longer use the wireless charging pad to charge their iPhone 15 in the car. There are many complaints from GM users on Reddit, GM forums, and Apple support forums. However, these issues do not appear to affect NFC functionality.
It’s unclear how widespread the problems are or which GM models are specifically affected, with complaints online from users of the Bolt, Silverado, Sierra and other models.
GM users say last week’s iOS 17.1.1 didn’t resolve their wireless charging issues, and neither does the current iOS 17.2 beta. Two GM users said they contacted Apple’s customer service, but Apple’s response was to tell them to go to GM. The key thing, however, is that these users were able to use wireless charging normally before upgrading to iOS 17.1, so this is obviously related to this system update.
