According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple was close to releasing a new 14-inch iPad this year but ultimately did not materialize. This iPad will be Apple’s largest tablet ever.
Mark Gurman said in the latest issue of his “Power On” newsletter that Apple began exploring the concept of a larger iPad in 2021 and was even preparing to launch a 14-inch model this year, but now this product is no longer in Apple’s pipeline The recent product plan is in.
Mark Gurman said a complicating issue is the transition to OLED displays in the iPad lineup, which could lead to significantly higher costs for larger tablet displays. According to previous rumours, the first iPad Pro models to be released in the first half of 2024 will be up to 13 inches.
Multiple sources have previously revealed that Apple designers and engineers are working on a larger-screen iPad, which may further “blur” the lines between tablets and laptops.
It is noted that since 2018, the largest iPads have been the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros. That means the largest iPad is still smaller than the smallest MacBooks — the M1 MacBook Air and M2 MacBook Pro (both with 13.3-inch displays).
