According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to update the AirPods Max product line later next year, including switching to a USB-C interface, adding new colours, etc.
However, he also pointed out that Apple has no plans to bring major updates to AirPods Max. In fact, this update may be so minor that it may not even be considered a second generation.
At present, it seems that the main reason for this hardware update is to comply with new EU regulations, that is, charging accessories (such as headphones) must use a USB-C interface, and AirPods Max currently uses Apple’s proprietary Lightning port.
In addition, Gurman also mentioned that this headset will continue to use the H1 chip instead of the H2 chip, so it still cannot support a series of advanced features that AirPods Pro has, such as adaptive audio, conversation awareness, personalized volume, and “Siri” Wake words etc.
This headset is currently priced at US$549 and it is expected that the new AirPods Max will still maintain this price.
