Tianfeng Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo issued a briefing today, saying that Apple plans to use self-developed 5G basebands on iPhone models starting in 2025.

Ming-Chi Kuo has previously stated that Apple plans to deploy the self-developed 5G baseband on the iPhone SE 4 first. If successful, it will be applied to the iPhone released in 2025 or 2026.
UBI Research researcher Dae-Jeong Yoon and Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley all believed that Apple’s self-developed 5G baseband encountered obstacles and could not meet Apple’s expectations.
Apple has been planning its own modems since 2018, and in 2019 acquired most of Intel’s smartphone modem business to strengthen its capabilities in this area. However, the above-mentioned analysts believe that Qualcomm may continue to be a modem supplier for the new Apple iPhone SE and iPhone 16 series.
