Apple unveils new Apple Pencil, USB-C instead of pressure-sensitive

Apple today issued a press release announcing the long-rumored new Apple Pencil, this Apple Pencil for USB-C interface, will be released in early November, priced at RMB 649.

Apple named this Apple Pencil as Apple Pencil (USB-C), not the third generation version.

The Apple Pencil is compatible with all iPad models with USB-C ports, including iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th and 5th generation), 11-inch iPad Pro (1st-4th generation), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd-6th generation), and iPad mini (6th generation).

Officially, the Apple Pencil (USB-C) features a matte finish, flat sides that magnetically attach to the side of iPad for easy storage, and a USB-C cable for pairing and charging.

Apple said the new Apple Pencil, which brings more options to iPad users, has pixel-level accuracy, low latency, and tilt angle sensing, making it an ideal tool for tasks such as note-taking, drawing, adding annotations, and journaling.

The Apple Pencil (USB-C) has the same pixel-level accuracy, low latency and tilt-angle sensing as the previous first- and second-generation products, but with the pressure-sensing feature removed.

The new Apple Pencil supports new iPadOS features such as writing on the go, quick memos, and collaborating with others in the Infinity Notes app. When used with iPad Pro models with the M2 chip, the new Apple Pencil supports hovering to help users draw more accurately.

A USB-C port is tucked under the sliding cap so you can pair and charge the new Apple Pencil with a USB-C cable. When magnetically attached to the side of iPad, the new Apple Pencil goes to sleep to conserve power.
