Apple recently agreed to pay a settlement of up to 14.4 million Canadian dollars (Note: currently about 77.184 million RMB) to settle the “iPhone battery door” class action lawsuit in Canada.
The class action lawsuit is currently entering the compensation stage, and Apple has opened a relevant page. Affected users can receive up to 150 Canadian dollars (currently about 804 RMB).
Law firm Rochon Genova LLP said Apple’s settlement was approved by the court on March 4 and the claims period begins today.
Eligible iPhone users can visit the claims website before September 2, and then depending on the impact and subsequent statistics on the number of claimants and other information, each user can receive compensation ranging from 17.50 Canadian dollars to 150 Canadian dollars.
Eligible users must be current or former residents of Canada (excluding Quebec) and have, had, or downloaded iOS 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017.
Affected models include iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone SE.
It is worth mentioning that reaching a settlement does not mean that Apple has admitted wrongdoing. The company has denied all accusations against it. Additionally, the settlement applies to all regions of Canada except Quebec.
