Following the macOS 12.6 release, Apple today released an official update to the Safari 16 browser that brings some new features to macOS Monterey and macOS Big Sur users.
Updates to Safari 16 include tab group start pages, support for fixed tabs in tab groups, and tabs in the sidebar. The update also includes cross-device synchronization for site settings and strong password editing for adjusting passwords to meet various site-specific password requirements.
The Tab group start page allows users to add different background images and favorites for each tab group
Fixed tabs in tab groups allow users to fix frequently visited websites for each tab group
Tabs in the sidebar allowing users to view a column view of open tabs
User-specific site settings can now be synced across devices
Strong password editing allows users to adjust strong passwords to meet site-specific requirements
Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.
The Safari 16 browser update also addresses several WebKit vulnerabilities that could track users through Web extensions and lead to arbitrary code execution.
