Apple today released an update to Safari 16.4, in addition to iOS/iPadOS 16.4 and macOS 13.3. The official Apple WebKit blog post details the update, which introduces a total of 135 new web features and more than 280 optimizations.

This Safari 16.4 browser update for macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Big Sur, iPadOS 16 and iOS 16 introduces 135 new web features and brings more than 280 optimization updates.

One of the highlights of this update is Web Push support on iOS / iPadOS 16.4, allowing Web developers to send push notifications using the Push API, Notifications API, and Service Workers. reports that Web Push notifications are deeply integrated into iOS and iPadOS Web Push notifications are deeply integrated into iOS and iPadOS, providing the same user experience as the app.

Web apps added to the Home screen can display counters, similar to those in regular apps, to keep users informed of alerts and notifications.
