Apple revises and re-releases iOS16, iPadOS16, macOS Ventura 3rd beta

Apple took the unexpected step of re-releasing a third developer beta of iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura. On Monday, Apple released new beta versions of some of its landmark operating systems, but instead of releasing the fourth version, it revised iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and the third developer beta of macOS Ventura.

It is unclear why these releases are being re-released, but it is likely that the purpose is to properly synchronize these releases with the public beta versions. These three releases have new build numbers compared to the original July 6 release.

The build number for the third version of the iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 re-release is 20A5312j, which replaces 20A5312g, and the build number for the third beta version of the macOS 13 re-release is 22A5295i, which replaces 22A5295h.

The latest release can be downloaded through the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled in the beta program, or via OTA for devices running the beta software.

Users are strongly advised not to install the beta version on computers used for mission-critical tasks or on their personal primary devices because of the potential for data loss or other problems. Instead, beta testers should install the beta on secondary or non-essential devices and make sure they have adequate backups of important data before updating.

The public who are keen to try the OS should at least wait for the public beta to begin rather than jumping to the developer beta.
