Apple today launched the second Beta version update of tvOS 17 (internal version number 21J5293g) for developers, 2 weeks after the release of the last Beta version.
It was previously reported that the tvOS 17 update introduces a new FaceTime app for Apple TV, making it easier for users to make video calls on large-screen TVs.
Apple says that with the Continuity Camera feature, users can launch the FaceTime app on Apple TV and wirelessly connect to iPhones and iPads. Users can cast incoming calls received on the iPhone to the Apple TV for calls.
The FaceTime main interface on Apple TV can intelligently center the presenter and automatically adjust the layout of the live feed when a new user joins.
It is also learned from the report that Apple has opened the relevant Continuity Camera API to developers, allowing third-party video call applications such as Zoom and Webex to use iPhone and iPad as live broadcast sources to launch corresponding applications on Apple TV, for FaceTime communication.
