Apple today released the second public beta of iOS/iPadOS 16.6, macOS Ventura 13.5, and watchOS 9.6, just one day after the previously released developer beta.
Apple’s development focus is now on the upcoming iOS / iPadOS 17 and macOS 14 systems, so this public beta release does not introduce many new features but mainly focuses on bug fixes, performance improvements, and background stability improvements.
iOS / iPadOS 16.6 is a small update. Users who have already signed up for Apple’s free Beta program can do so by opening the Settings app, going to General, selecting “Software Update, clicking on “Beta Updates” and then selecting the iOS 16 Public Beta option to enable the beta.
Apple is slowing down iOS/iPadOS 16.6 and macOS Ventura 13.5 updates. iOS 16.6 should be the last version of the iOS 16 branch before Apple officially releases iOS 17 in September.
