Apple releases new 24-inch iMac: equipped with M3 chip, priced from 10,999 RMB

Apple today released a new generation of 24-inch iMac, nearly three years after the launch of the M1 iMac. The new machine has a similar design to the previous generation, but is equipped with the just-released M3 chip, which is faster and more efficient.

Design-wise, the new iMac looks pretty much the same as its predecessor. Apple made some small tweaks, but nothing major. The new iMac offers 7 colorful looks: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. It also provides new wallpapers with the same series of colors and novel designs, which are only 11.5 mm thick.

The display is also the same as before, with the new iMac featuring a 24-inch 11.3-megapixel 4.5K Retina display that supports P3 wide color gamut, more than 1 billion colors, and 500 nits of brightness.

The biggest highlight is the M3 chip, while the iMac hasn’t been updated since 2021, when it was equipped with an M1 chip. The M3 chip integrates an 8-core central processor and up to 10-core graphics processor, which is up to 2 times faster than the previous generation products equipped with the M1 chip. Relying on the next-generation graphics processor of the M3 chip, iMac supports hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, which can provide more accurate lighting, reflection and shadow effects for an extremely realistic gaming experience. And with the 16-core Neural Engine and the latest media processing engine, iMac also delivers blazing-fast machine learning and video performance.

The new iMac supports high-speed Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, with download speeds up to 2 times higher than the previous generation, and can be connected to the latest Bluetooth accessories; it is also equipped with up to 4 USB-C ports, including 2 that support ultra-high speed Thunderbolt ports for data transmission, some models support Gigabit Ethernet access standards, and displays with a maximum configuration of 6K.

The new iMac features a 1080p FaceTime camera and studio-grade microphones, and the six-speaker system supports spatial audio.

The new iMac is equipped with keyboard, mouse, and trackpad in the same series colors; the optional Magic Keyboard 4 supports Touch ID, and also supports Quick User Switching based on Touch ID.

It is learned from the official website that the new 24-inch iMac will be available for order at 9 a.m. on November 1 and will be released on November 7. It will provide 8GB of unified memory and 256GB/512GB solid-state drive, priced from 10,999 RMB.
