According to a report today by Wayne Ma of The Information, Apple is working on a larger 16-inch iPad, which it hopes to release in the fourth quarter of 2023. This would undoubtedly be the largest iPad model ever, surpassing the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and even among laptops, 16 inches would already be in the jumbo class of sizes.
Reports suggest that the 16-inch iPad could be aimed at creative professionals, such as graphic artists and designers who prefer a larger screen. But no other details were provided about the future device, which has the same screen size as the 16-inch MacBook Pro and further blurs the line between the iPad and Mac lines.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claimed last year that Apple was exploring the idea of a larger iPad that could further “blur” the line between tablets and laptops.
Earlier this year, Ross Young, a highly accurate display industry analyst, claimed that Apple was also working on a larger 14-inch iPad Pro with a mini LED display. Combining these two rumors, it’s possible that Apple is planning to release both 14-inch and 16-inch iPad Pro models next year.
