Apple plans to offer the latest system for new, unopened iPhones

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned in the latest Power On newsletter released last night that Apple is preparing to provide the latest version of the system for unopened iPhones. This move is to deal with the following scenarios:

The first batch of iPhone 15 models shipped out of the factory came with iOS 17 built-in, but by the time users purchased it, iOS 17.0.1 and later new versions of the system had already been released. This means that users may have to spend time updating the software after opening the box of their new iPhone.

Regarding this move, Mark Gurman revealed that Apple has developed a special cushion-shaped device on which retail stores can place unopened iPhones. Then the system can wirelessly connect to and wake up the iPhone, and then Automatically download and install the latest version of iOS to complete the software update and finally shut down.

Apple is said to aim to roll out the system in stores by the end of this year. It is worth noting that this report only mentions the iPhone, but does not rule out the possibility of extending it to other Apple products.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max

Note: In this Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman also mentioned that Apple’s “cheap version” Vision Pro headset is planned to be priced between US$1,500-2,500, and that the M3 MacBook Pro/Air is expected to be released early next year. and other information.
