Apple’s “Far Out” event on September 7 brought us the new iPhone 14, but it also signaled the end of some earlier models. From now on, only 5G-enabled phones will be sold on Apple’s website: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 12 and the second-generation iPhone SE (2022).
But Apple is accustomed to shipping only the latest generation of Pro Series phones, and following tradition, Apple dropped the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max to make room in the market for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Launched last year, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max offered a 120Hz screen, a new triple camera module, and Apple’s own faster A15 chip.
Finally, Apple dropped the oldest phone in its on-sale lineup, the iPhone 11. The phone, which launches in 2019, features an A13 Bionic CPU, offers a longer battery than its predecessor, and comes with a U1 ultra-wide chip for locating items.
Of course, just because Apple is dropping these phones from its lineup doesn’t mean you can’t buy them anymore. It just means that Apple and carriers will focus on the new models, but you may still be able to find them at third-party retail stores. The good news is that they may be discounted and will be cheaper as the upcoming holiday season and Black Friday approach.
