Apple Pay, Apple’s payment service, is coming to South Korea

Apple Pay is expected to gain approval from South Korean regulators to launch within the country in recent days, according to a report by foreign tech media outlet iMore. The report claims that the South Korean Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) is reviewing the terms submitted by the company for the launch of Apple Pay services and that Hyundai Card is ready to support Apple Pay.

Hyundai Card, a financial arm of South Korean car company Hyundai Motors, has reportedly established a one-year partnership with Apple to become the exclusive operator of Apple Pay in South Korea before other companies can follow suit.

As of press time, Apple and Hyundai Card have not released a statement.

TechCrunch reports that South Korea is “one of the world’s fastest-growing countries for cashless services” but does not yet support Apple Pay, and friend Google has not brought its Google Pay service to the country.
