Apple officially released the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chip. At the same time, Apple also released a new generation of 24-inch iMac equipped with M3 chips, starting at RMB 10,999.
This is the first PC chip with 3nm process technology, realizing the most significant graphic processor architecture leap in the history of Apple chips.
According to Apple, the M3 series of chips can render up to 2.5 times faster than the M1 series, the CPU is equipped with high-performance cores and high-efficiency cores that are 30% and 50% faster than the corresponding cores in the M1, and the neural network engine is also 60% faster than that on the M1 series of chips.
The iMac 2023 with the M3 chip has appeared on Geekbench. The iMac features a 4.05 GHz base M3 chip with 16GB of RAM, runs macOS 14.1, and scores a maximum of 3076 points in single-core and 11863 points in multi-core.
For comparison, the highest single-core Mac score included in Geekbench so far is 2,803 (M2 Max) for the Mac Studio (2023), and 21,316 (M2 Ultra) for multi-core.
According to Apple’s official information, the M3 is equipped with an 8-core CPU and 8/10-core GPU, which is up to 20% faster than the M2. In addition, the M3 family of chips supports a variety of codecs, such as H.264, HEVC, ProRes and ProRes RAW, and AV1.
