Apple commissioned the “Deep Dive LLC” shell company last week to apply for a trademark called “xrOS” in New Zealand. “xrOS” is an acronym for “extended reality,” which means that the headset will support augmented reality and virtual reality.
After digging deeper, Marcus Schappi also found that the company had applied for the “Deep Screen” trademark in the United States and more than 20 countries and regions around the world during 2017-2018.
It’s not clear whether Apple will apply “Deep Screen” to the field of headsets. MacRumors media reports that the US Trademark and Patent Office marked the trademark as “abandoned” in July 2022 because the shell company failed to explain how to use the trademark within the time limit.
The media believes that “Deep Screen” may be the brand of the internal screen of Apple’s headset, referring to immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experience. It’s just that it’s unclear whether Apple will use the trademark.
