Apple has announced that the visionOS Software Development Kit (SDK) for developing apps for the upcoming Vision Pro headset is now available to third-party developers via Xcode 15 Beta 2. This follows Apple’s announcement at WWDC that the SDK will be available later this month.
Apple said, “Starting today, Apple’s global developer community will be able to create a new kind of spatial computing application that leverages the infinite canvas in Vision Pro and seamlessly blends digital content with the physical world to enable extraordinary new experiences. With the visionOS SDK, developers can leverage the power and uniqueness of Vision Pro and visionOS to design new app experiences across productivity, design, gaming and many other categories.”
Apple said it will open developer labs in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo next month to provide developers with hands-on experience testing their apps on Apple Vision Pro hardware and access to Apple engineers. Starting next month, developers using Unity’s powerful authoring tools to build 3D apps and games can port their Unity apps to Apple Vision Pro and take full advantage of the latter’s powerful capabilities.
