Apple launches Apple Music Classical app for Android ahead of iPad, Mac

Apple today launched the Apple Music Classical app for Android on the Google Play store, and as of this writing there have been dozens of downloads. It’s worth mentioning that Apple hasn’t adapted the Apple Music Classical app for iPad or Mac until now.

The app is very similar to Apple Music for Android, and largely mirrors the design of its iOS app. Of course, users must have an Apple Music or Apple One subscription to use the app.

In 2021, Apple announced that it was acquiring Primephonic, a classical music streaming service, and would incorporate it into its Apple Music service with a new app dedicated to classical music. In March, Apple launched “Apple Music Classical” to much curiosity.

The Apple Music Classical app provides Apple Music subscribers with access to more than 5 million classical tracks, including a variety of new, high-quality releases, as well as hundreds of curated playlists, thousands of exclusive albums and other content such as composer profiles and in-depth studies of key works.

The app provides a simpler interface for interacting with classical music. Unlike the existing “Apple Music” app, Apple Music Classical allows users to search by composer, work, conductor, catalog number, and more. Users can get more detailed information from editorial notes and descriptions.

About this app:

Enjoy an app designed specifically for classical music, at no extra cost with an Apple Music subscription. Instantly find any recording in the largest classical music catalog with a search system built specifically for this kind of music. Enjoy the best sound quality (up to 192 kHz / 24-bit high resolution lossless) and listen to your favorite classical music with Spatial Audio - without the ads - like never before.

Apple Music Classical offers curated recommendations and hundreds of hand-picked playlists for all listeners from beginners to pros, insightful composer biographies, in-depth appreciation guides for many important works, and easy, intuitive navigation.

・In order to listen to music on Apple Music Classical, you must have Internet access.
