After 20 years of existence, Apple is finally closing the curtains on the iPod. The most recent version of Apple’s music playing device is the iPod touch. According to Apple, the said device will be available for sale until stocks sell out, then it’d be done away with. This marks the end of an iconic product lineup from Apple.

This move is one that was going to come at some point. Included in Apple’s ecosystem is its ever-growing library of songs available for streaming on Apple Music. The company also has a bunch of accessories that make their devices to better for playing music in various settings. The Home pod can be useful when playing music to a group of people, the ear pods keep the music to the user, and all other Apple devices can play music from their in-built speakers.

There is also enough storage now available in the newer versions of the iPhone, so users can store as much music as they wish. If one wants a particular track to stand with them to the test of time, then it can be backed up to the iCloud storage. The need for an iPod is gradually fading into the blue, most iPhone users no longer have a specific use for it that other Apple devices can’t handle.

Goodbye to the age-long friend and companion of so many people. The pod might be gone, but the music lives forever.
