Naver whistleblower @란즈크 said that Apple is negotiating for future AMOLED display supply channels for iPad mini and iPad Air, involving Samsung Display, LG Display and other Chinese companies (unnamed).
Supply chain sources say Apple aims to begin mass production of these (OLED) components by the end of 2025, suggesting that OLED versions of the iPad mini and iPad Air may debut in early 2026. He also mentioned that Apple decided to select Chinese companies as the target of negotiations from the beginning.
In fact, display panel research firm Omdia released a report earlier this week. Omdia pointed out that Apple’s new OLED iPad Pro will be launched in 2024, including 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes, and plans to supply panels from LG Display and Samsung Display.
Omdia analysts pointed out that Apple is considering widespread adoption of OLED technology starting in 2026 and using it for the iPad mini and iPad Air series products. This is also the next stage of Apple’s OLED strategy.
It is reported that 9to5Mac said Apple will release a number of new iPad products in the next few months, including iPad mini 7 and two new iPad Airs. However, the two new iPads feature smaller spec upgrades, focusing on new processors rather than major updates like more advanced display technology.
