The global smartphone market has been a little downfall in the number of sales over the last few couple of years. The pandemic also affected the mobile division. Many brands suffered huge losses in the number of sales. Anyway, a new piece of information is hovering online which claims that the sales of Apple iPhones have managed to catch up with the market leader Samsung.
Apple managed to catch up with Samsung in the smartphone division
A Canalys analysis claims that between July and September of this year, the overall market for smartphones experienced a 9 per cent year-over-year fall. In other words, there was a discernible reduction from the previous year in the third quarter of 2022. Four of the top five smartphone brands in the world were also impacted by the drop in shipments. With a 22 per cent market share, Samsung continues to be the industry leader. With 18 per cent, Apple was in second place, and Xiaomi was third with 14 per cent.
Oppo and Vivo, both of which have market shares of 10% and 9%, respectively, rounded up the top 5 list. However, the South Korean IT giant only had a small gain despite dominating the smartphone market. On the other side, the Cupertino-based business experienced greater growth throughout this time in terms of both market share and even revenue figures. In other words, it can be said that the producer of the iPhone emerged as the real victor in the third quarter of this year.

In terms of market share, Apple is only 4 per cent behind Samsung. This is less than the 6 per cent difference between the two industry titans in consumer electronics. In other words, Apple is gradually catching up to Samsung. We may also anticipate Apple to surpass Samsung shortly because the holiday season, one of the brand’s strongest times of the year, is just around the corner. In the final quarter of last year, it had a market share of 22% compared to Samsung’s 20%. However, this year’s gap could grow much wider.
