Bloomberg’s article on leadership changes in Foxconn’s iPhone assembly business mentions some of the requirements for Apple’s iPhone quality standards.
Citing people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported Tuesday that Foxconn has named Michael Chiang as the new head of its iPhone assembly business, replacing Wang Charng-yang, the previous longtime head.
The Bloomberg article, which focused on the promotion of Foxconn’s new head of iPhone assembly operations, referenced an earlier interview with Michael Chiang in which he gave insight into the different quality standards Apple expects compared to the Android phones Foxconn assembles for the Chinese company.
For Android phones in China, we only need to assign 100 workers to each line, but for the iPhone, we need 1,200 workers,” Michael Chiang said, underscoring the stringency of Apple’s requirements.
Foxconn is Apple’s largest production base for OEM iPhones, and that the lack of capacity at Foxconn Zhengzhou once sparked market concerns about Apple’s supply. It is understood that Foxconn’s Zhengzhou Industrial Park is responsible for roughly 80 percent of the iPhone 14 series production capacity, and more than 85 percent of the iPhone 14 pro production capacity in Zhengzhou.
