Apple iPhone 16 Pro model pill area is reduced by 50% to expand the Dynamic Island area

The foreign technology Howtoisolve recently broke the news that Apple has already started to develop the iPhone 16 Pro model internally. It was previously reported that Apple will switch to the under-screen Face ID sensor in 2024, but the latest news shows that the pill area will be reduced by 50%, thereby expanding the display space of the dynamic island.

Dynamic Island:

Howtoisolve heard from Apple’s internal channels that Apple plans to reduce the footprint of the pill-shaped punch hole on the iPhone 16 Pro, specifically by about 50%, thereby expanding the usable range of the Dynamic Island.

Howtoisolve said that Apple has been researching Face ID technology under the screen in recent years. Although the iPhone 16 Pro will equip some components under the screen, the camera and other components still exist, but they will become smaller, so it will not hinder the existence of Dynamic Island.

USB-C:

Howtoisolve reports that Apple engineers have developed two prototypes, one with a USB-C port and the other with no physical charging port, relying entirely on MagSafe magnetic wireless charging.

Howtoisolve thinks it is unlikely that the iPhone 16 Pro will switch to a design without a charging port, so it may also be a USB-C port.

volume button

Like the iPhone 15 Ultra, the volume buttons will provide haptic feedback rather than physical movement when pressed. This will improve the water resistance of the device and make it less prone to failure. The fewer moving parts it has, the harder it is to damage.

Processor:

It is reported that Apple is planning to change the development strategy of iPhone processors, focusing more on energy efficiency and battery life rather than pursuing higher performance. Apple will focus on optimizing battery life in iOS 17/18.

Storage

Two last details: The iPhone 16 Pro starts with 256GB of storage and goes up to 2TB. Also, while this may change, no price increase is expected (it will be more expensive) compared to the iPhone 15 Pro.

Camera:

At present, there is not much information about the camera of the iPhone 16 Pro model, but Howtoisolve speculates that the main camera is still 48 million pixels, supports 8K video, and optimizes the HDR shooting algorithm.
