Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max telephoto lens supports 5x optical zoom, 25x digital zoom

The iPhone 15 Pro series models released by Apple today are equipped with upgraded camera systems, such as a larger and more advanced 48MP main camera, as well as a new coating that can reduce lens glare, etc.

Apple’s official website shows that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is equipped with a new 120mm focal length periscope telephoto lens, which uses a quadruple reflective prism design to achieve 5x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom, which is wider than the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro/ The 3x optical zoom and 15x digital zoom are improved in the Max model.

While that’s the maximum zoom an Apple device can offer, it’s still lower than the competition.

It was found that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra mobile phone has 10x optical zoom and 100x super visual spatial zoom, and can capture images 330 feet away; Google Pixel 7 Pro has 30x digital “ultra-high resolution zoom.”

What’s more, the 5x optical zoom is a unique feature of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and is not available on the iPhone 15 Pro and below.

However, both iPhone 15 Pro series devices have certain improvements in imaging. For example, the 48MP main camera has a larger sensor area, can gather more light in low-light conditions, and supports the use of Apple’s AI system to shoot full-resolution HEIF photos can be freely changed between 24mm, 28mm and 35mm focal lengths; there is also a new 13mm ultra-wide-angle camera and second-generation sensor-shift video optical image stabilization.

Like standard iPhone 15 models, the iPhone 15 Pro series supports next-generation Portrait Mode, which automatically detects whether there is a subject in the frame so you can switch to Portrait mode after capturing the image. There are also new focus and depth control tools that allow you to switch focus from one person to another after taking a photo. Night mode has also been improved, while Smart HDR allows the phone to capture both the sky and the subject simultaneously.

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro series supports shooting spatial videos, which can be viewed on Apple Vision Pro later.
