Beijing time, August 2 morning news, according to reports, sources said that Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will use different levels of OLED screen, so that the two can have greater distinction.
Samsung Display will use more advanced materials to produce the display for the iPhone 14 Pro, while the lower-end iPhone 14 will use a display made from the previous generation of materials. More specifically, Samsung will use a combination of M12 materials for the iPhone 14 Pro, which will also be chosen for Samsung’s next generation of folding screen phones.
In theory, the more advanced materials will allow for better performance and more energy efficient displays.
The 6.1 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 models will use a display made from a combination of M11 materials. What’s more, the iPhone 14 will use an LTPS TFT OLED screen, which is somewhat inferior to the LTPO TFT OLED screen used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. LTPO TFT screens are a key component of Apple’s ProMotion display technology, which supports a 120Hz variable refresh rate.
Samsung will reportedly provide screens for all four iPhone 14 models, but LG Display will only provide screens for two of them.
