Apple iPhone 14 / Pro pre-installed with iOS 16: Update arrives on the first day

After months of testing, Apple released the official version of iOS 16 to all users this week. As of now, the official version is the same as the Release Candidate (RC) that was released a week ago. However, according to a new report, the iPhone 14 series will receive the iOS 16 update when it arrives, even though it comes with iOS 16 pre-installed itself.

@appleeswupdates notes that iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro come with iOS 16. However, once users activate their new iPhone for the first time, they will be prompted to install the latest version of iOS 16 (20A362).

According to Apple’s release notes written specifically for the iPhone 14 / Pro series, the iOS 16 first-day update simply fixes a bug that could cause some photos to look blurry when zoomed in on the landscape.

In addition, AppleSWUpdates also revealed that Apple Apple Watch Series 8 also received a software update on the first day.

This is actually not the first time Apple has pre-installed a new system in a new machine that differs from the publicly released version, as the company needs to get everything ready a few weeks before the official release and then make sure that the new machine is shipped with the latest operating system already installed.

According to 9to5Mac’s analysis, most of the files in the iOS 16.0 release were compiled between Aug. 6 and Aug. 9. On the other hand, the pre-installed firmware in iPhone 14 was compiled a few days later, on August 18.

The first people to pre-order iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 will get their new devices on Friday, September 16. Once you have one of the new devices, all you need to do is turn on Software Update and install the latest version of iOS or watchOS.
