Apple announced that it will hold a special “Far Out” event on September 8 at 1 a.m. Beijing time. The event will still be held online and is expected to bring new products such as the iPhone 14 / Pro series, Apple Watch Series 8, and the launch of iOS 16.
Apple will hold a rare company-wide retail meeting this weekend, the first in three years since the global epidemic crisis began, according to people familiar with the matter. Apple’s “Far Out” event for iPhone 14 / Pro and Apple Watch Series 8 is less than two weeks away.
The meetings are scheduled to take place at Apple Retail Stores across the U.S. and are the first of their kind since the global outbreak in 2019. Apple initially planned a company-wide conference for spring 2020, which is typically held once or twice a year ahead of a busy release season, but was canceled due to retail store closures and the epidemic lockdown. In past years, Apple has unveiled company-wide retail strategies and “morale-boosting” team discussions designed to get employees ready for new product launches.
However, this year’s meeting comes at a time when Apple is internally straining against unionized organizations, a factor that has not existed in past years. According to MacRumors, Apple has been stepping up its union-related talking points over the past few weeks. Last week, Apple Store retail store leaders across the U.S. conveyed some of the rhetoric in a coordinated effort to ease employee concerns.
Apple is preparing to launch several new products in the coming weeks, including the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series, and Apple Watch Series 8. Apple Store employees in multiple locations across the U.S. are tasked with preparing new merchandising materials in the coming weeks, which typically precedes major new product launches. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the new iPhone 14 Series will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 9, and will go on sale on Friday, September 16.
