The production process for the Apple iPhone 14 and 14 Plus across various production plants will be cut down by up to 3 million units. People conversant with this matter say that the cut is a result of the reduction of demand and popularity of the said iPhone models. Many users from various regions have chosen to entirely skip the base models of the 14 series and stick to the Pro models thanks to the upgrades they bring.
Other users aiming to switch to the 14 base models have thought it wise not to upgrade since the 13 and 13 mini offer similar performance to the 14 and 14 Plus. After close consideration the specifications of the iPhone 14 and 13 are so similar that they can be negligible, the design of the two devices is also the same contributing to a lack of innovation in the newer device. This is making the popularity of the Apple iPhone 14 and 14 Plus dwindle across regions where the device retails.

Cutting the production of these devices will be able to save Apple some cost in terms of production, hence channelling the money to other aspects of their business. Despite making a profit after realizing sales for the fourth quarter of 2022 Apple needs to readjust its outlook for its coming iPhone 15 base models. Making the switch to a new processor, adopting the Dynamic island, and brushing up photography abilities will make the coming base model iPhones more appealing. Possibly, Apple might still stick with the Plus entry in the 15 series, but, the iPhone 14 Plus has grown to become the least attractive entry in the 14 series.
