Apple today pushed the iOS / iPadOS 16.6 Developer Preview Beta 3 update (internal version number: 20G5047d) to iPhone and iPad users, 15 days after the last release.
Apple’s development focus is now on the upcoming iOS / iPadOS 17 and macOS 14 systems, so this public beta release does not introduce many new features, but rather focuses on bug fixes, performance improvements, and background stability improvements.
Users who have signed up for Apple’s free Beta program can do so by opening the Settings app, going to General and selecting Software Update. You can enable the beta by opening the “Settings” app, going to “General”, selecting “Software Update”, clicking “Beta Update”, and then selecting the iOS 16 public beta option.
The official changelog and found only two known issues with Home and Xcode:
Home
When users open the new Home app and select a supported accessory from the list of nearby accessories, pairing the first Matter accessory will fail.
Temporary solution: Pair the first Matter device by scanning the QR code, and subsequent Matter accessories can be paired using the nearby accessories list.
Xcode:
Starting with iOS 16.6, after running attributed text for UILabel, a negative NSBaselineOffsetAttributeName value will return to its pre-16.3 behavior of lowering the text position within the label boundary.
