This morning Apple WWDC23 Global Developers Conference was held to launch new hardware and software devices including iOS 17, macOS Sonoma, MacBook Air 15, Apple Vision Pro headset and more.
Apple’s iOS 17 Health App introduces a new feature that lets you track your moods and emotions over time so you can get a sense of your overall mental health.
With the iOS 17 Health app, you can quickly record your mental state each day with a choice of feelings ranging from very unpleasant to very pleasant, followed by a list of words that you can use to describe your overall mood.
From there, you can select reasons for feelings such as work, partner, hobbies, money, health, family, and more. Recording your mood takes just a few seconds, and the Health app aggregates the data over time.
Users can also complete mood logging on Apple Watch running watchOS 10 with the Mindfulness app (Positive Thinking app). On the watch, if you open the Mindfulness app, there’s a new “Log State of Mind” option that you can tap to record how you’re feeling right now or throughout the day.
Apple said it also plans to link users’ mood reports to activities like exercise and sleep so they can see what might be having an impact, and to provide standardized mental health assessments so users can see the risk of anxiety or depression.
